Think Again, If Dropout Is A Dirty Word For You.
In the latest Forbes list of 400 richest Americans, four out of the top five are dropouts:
• America’s richest man, also world’s richest, William Henry Gates III or, simply Bill Gates is a dropout. However, one can argue that he was, after all, a Harvard University dropout. But others really went through the grind.
• Hotelier and casino owner Sheldon Adelson, the third richest American in the Forbes list, dropped out of City College of New York. He was the son of a Boston taxi driver and had borrowed $200 from his uncle to sell newspapers at age 12.
• Software titan Lawrence Joseph Ellison, the fourth richest American, is another dropout.
• The next on the list is Paul Gardner Allen (an American Entrepreneur), a Washington State University dropout.
Moral of the story: Don’t aim for being one, but being a dropout doesn’t mean the end of the world either.
