Education Today

The King is not the wisest, and the wisest may not become the King. Unfortunately, education and monetary gains have become the two arms of the same scale. The costliest education is considered to be the best. The personality of an individual is linked to the percentage. Job satisfaction has become synonymous with monetary gains. To secure favours even by unfair means on the basis of power commanded by the Chair has become order of the day. Professions that are money spinning, have risen in prominence. Without a mission in life, and a society morally bankrupt, cannot contribute anything tangible for the real growth of the country. Our efforts whether of the government or social to eradicate evils are lukewarm and half-hearted. Take for example smoking and drug addiction. Not enough is being done to educate addicts about its dangerous effects on health. All aspects of life, have become money-oriented. Remember,..ultimately money can only spin you and many times clean bowl you. The innate talents should not be supressed for acquiring degrees, with the sole purpose of amassing wealth. The education system should not dwarf you. It is not important, what deep philosophy you talk, what is important is how deeply you touch the hearts of the people with whoim you interact. That which helps your inner growth is the real education. If what we are teaching in Colleges and Universities is real education, why this world is engulfed in hatred and intolerance, instead of mutual love? Education should be preparation for life. Presently, the whole edifice of modern civilization has begun to crumble. Identify and nourish the God-given talent within you. Only it can lift you up. Otherwise, you will continue to live the life of compromises at every stage in your life. Remember, you can learn from anyone, only the process of learning--but the real self-growth has to be attained by one's own efforts and dedication

What is Personality ?

Man is very different from an animal. But until and unless he utilizes his body energy and intellectual power efficiently he cannot reach a stage which is different from that of an animal. Especially in this Computer age where things are different and due to the complexity of present day living, not only academic , but also many other matter such as personal development, positive interaction, with people etc. counts. That two young people desire to acquire a balanced growth of personality along with academic education.

Rama and Krishna personified conduct of the highest standard. They were the persons of excellence. They became ideal heroes. They might have lived in mythological age but their influence is for ever coming to modern world, we have examples like Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Swami Vivekananda and many others. They are better examples.

We call people like Dr. D. Radhakrishnan, Abdul Kalam, Mother Teresa as towering personalities. They are great personalities. A well developed personality is not achieved at one stretch. They were also born as babies. How did they achieve such an immense personality? It was due to their positive interaction with the people from infancy to old age. So personal development is a gradual process. It is not achieved in a day. Nobody becomes great automatically .This indicates that personality can be improved. We must be in position to assess our own personality.

The right time for beginning to develop and improve personality is at the time of learning , that is student life. In olden days there were ‘gurukulas’ where the guru or the teacher used to watch students closely as the members of the family. Actually after mother teacher mould their character and enabled them to face life as they grew up. But today teacher – student interaction is only through medium of examinations and periodical tests. The student’s strength is also large. Individual’s attention is not easy as in olden days. The parents have no time as both husband and wife are engaged in their office own office work or involved in the other activities that help to build up their status. They have no time to take care of their children and they leave it to the school or college authorities.

Personality is not what people usually say, that is handsome personality, shining personality, wonderful personality. They tell us only the outer feature of a person like handsomeness, attractiveness, good looking, but no t the real distinctive character. Personality is self- motivating that is it activates one’s life at every stage. Personality does not mean just physical fitness and pleasing look. Personality includes intelligence and character of an individual in addition to look. It can be said that personality is a blend of one’s intelligence, character and look. Totally person must be smart. Enthusiasm is the propelling force necessary for climbing the ladder of success

Mobile phones & risk of Cancer

Long or short-term mobile phone use is not associated with increased risk of cancer, a major study has found. Mobile phone antennas emit electromagnetic fields that can penetrate the human brain. But a Danish team found no evidence that this was linked to an increased risk of tumours in the head or neck as had been feared. The study, of more than 420,000 mobile phone users, appears in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. The researchers, from the Danish Institute of Cancer Epidemiology in Copenhagen, looked at data on people who had been using mobile phones from as far back as 1982. More than 56,000 had been using a mobile phone for at least 10 years. They found no evidence to suggest users had a higher risk of tumours in the brain, eye, or salivary gland, or leukaemia. Professor Tricia McKinney, Centre for Epidemiology and Biostatistics, University of Leeds, said: "The results of this Danish cohort study are important as they have analysed data from mobile phone company records and do not rely on users remembering for up to 10 years in the past how often they used their phone. "The large numbers of subscribers in the study mean we can have some confidence in the results that have not linked mobile phone use to a risk of any cancer, including brain tumours." Similar findings The study follows a report published earlier this year by the Institute of Cancer Research, which concluded that mobile phone use was not associated with a greater risk of brain cancer. An independent group for the UK government, led by Sir William Stewart, that looked into the safety of mobile phones in the late 1990s also concluded mobile phones did not appear to harm health. However, expert advice is still to limit mobile phone use among young people as a precautionary measure, as their head and nervous systems may still be developing. And the government currently advises mobile phone users to keep their call times short. There are more than one billion mobile phone users worldwide. Children are advised not to use mobile phones unless necessary .
